  • System Requirements

Hardware

You will need a notebook computer with 802.11b or 802.11g wireless capability.

  • Software Configuration

The following instructions apply to using the Eduroam wireless service on Apple Mac OS X 10.6 machines. On the other Mac OS systems the configuration will be similar.

1. In the apple menu, select System Preferences.

2. In the System Preferences menu, under the Network and Internet section, click on the icon for Network.

3. On the next screen, select the Turn AirPort On button, unlock the interface if locked, and click on Advanced... .

4. Click on + to add a new network.

5. Select Show Networks and find eduroam in the list of networks.

6. Select eduroam and enter your Eduroam username and password that you was given by your institution. Lastly the 802.1X Configuration here should be set to Automatic.

7. Click on Add button.

8. You may then get a box stating "The server certificate is not trusted because there are no explicit trust settings". Click Continue.

9. Your computer will now authenticate with the network and then you should be able to access the internet. If you get an error saying that authentication has failed, double-check the above steps.
