Configuring Linux for Eduroam

 

• System Requirements

Hardware

You will need a notebook computer with 802.11b or 802.11g wireless capability.

 

• Software Configuration

The following instructions apply to using the Eduroam wireless service on Ubuntu Linux machines. On the other Linux distributions with installed Network Manager the configuration should be similar.

1. Click on the Network Manager icon on the top right of your screen, and choose eduroam from the list of available networks.

 

2. In the ‘Authentication required by wireless network’ box, enter the following settings:

-> Wireless Security: WPA & WPA2 Enterprise
-> Authentication: Tunnelled TLS
-> Anonymous Identity: @iiap.sci.am etc.
-> Inner Authentication: MSCHAPv2
-> Username: Your Eduroam full username
-> Password: Your Eduroam password

 

3. Click connect.

 

To use eduroam in the future, just click the ‘Network icon’ and select ‘eduroam’ from the list of available wireless networks. The connection will start automatically, and then you should be able to access the internet.
